New Forbes study shows Bay Area city has the healthiest residents
( KRON ) – The Bay Area offers residents a plethora of resources for health – hikes, biking, countless workout spaces and consistent warm weather. A particular city in the Bay Area has been listed as the healthiest city in the nation, according to Forbes Advisor .
The business magazine named San Jose residents the healthiest in America.
In addition to low rates of opioid overdoses and obesity, the following factors assisted the Silicon Valley city ahead in the ranking:
San Jose's city website says it's one of the safest big cities in America.
According to the study, four other California cities rank in the top 15 cities with the healthiest residents: San Diego, San Francisco, Oakland and Los Angeles.
Earlier this year, WalletHub conducted a study on the exact premise, where they found that San Francisco earned the top spot for the healthiest city with San Jose in the 22nd place.
Forbes determined the healthiest and least healthy populations across the following metrics: percentage of adults with diabetes, high blood pressure, binge drinking, obesity, smoking and physical inactivity and the number of opioid overdose deaths per 100,000 residents.
