New homes unveiled at Community Shelter Services’ Kiwanis Tiny Home Village

Community Shelter Services have opened up four new tiny homes for people in need to use, completing what they're calling the Kiwanis Tiny Home Village.

The homes are for families facing homelessness featuring living spaces and bathrooms and are fully temperature-controlled.

In total, there are nine operational homes — one of them, which includes a wheelchair ramp, was sponsored by City of Erie Mayor Joe Schember and his wife.

"We'll be able to house nine families and up to six in a home each night, especially as it's grown cooler. Everything that you see here today has been donated by individuals throughout the wonderful Erie community," said Diane Lazette, executive director of Community Shelter Services.

Lazette added that with this village full, they're hopeful to start building more on a new property at some point in the future.
