NEED TO KNOW U.S. obesity reaches a 'crisis point' A new study that looked into the U.S. obesity epidemic predicted that 260 million Americans could be obese or overweight by 2050.

The study: It noted that obesity among U.S. adults and older teens has doubled in the last three decades. Being overweight and obese are among the fastest-growing risk factors for early death. Study co-author Dr. Marie Ng said the U.S. is at a " crisis point ."

Potential solutions: Ng said that while demand for weight loss drugs may increase, they're " not a silver bullet ," and called for more focus on prevention, starting with pregnancy and infant feeding practices, healthier school meals and nutrition regulations. [CNN]

Anthony: What's Trump's immediate plan for tackling inflation?Ben: Inflation propelled Trump back to the presidency but he's offered only scattered plans for specific pain points. He has promised to open the floodgates to new oil drilling but it remains to be seen how that changes prices at the pump anytime soon.

Anthony: Trump has pushed for new tariffs. How could that affect prices if enacted?Ben: Trump has economists worried that he could spur new price increases. Tariffs are business taxes that are often passed along to consumers . If he follows through with his most-repeated promises, the tariffs are estimated to add somewhere between $1,700–$3,900 to yearly family budgets.

Anthony: And what can we expect as far as tax reform?Ben: With their sweep , Republicans hope to act on taxes in Trump's first 100 days. But the party has a robust debate ahead. Will there be an extension of Trump's 2017 tax cuts? That appears likely. What about Trump's other promises , such as no tax on tips? That's much less certain.
