GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - The City of Grand Island is getting a new Target.

The Target Corporation has begun building the grocery store after it received a building permit from the city. Regional Planning Director Chad Nabity confirmed that the store got the permit Aug. 23 for the $17.5 million dollar building project.

Nabity said they've started construction on the store which will face 13th street on the south side of the Conestoga Marketplace. A Grand Island Chamber newsletter indicated that the store would cover 150,000 square feet.

Woodsonia bought the property two years ago and at the time promised that Target would be an anchor store.

It will be in roughly the same space as the former Dillard's store.
