Next In Lie To Die: Garcia White Stabbed Mother And Her Children

C.Wright34 min ago

Only one week after the State of Texas executed Travis Mullis for the murder of his infant son, the death chamber at Huntsville will most likely be occupied again.

Garcia Glen White is scheduled to be executed tomorrow (10/1/2024) after spending 28 years on Death Row for the murders of Bonita Edwards and her twin daughters, Annette and Bernette.

The twins were 16 years old in 1989 when they were stabbed to death, according to The Austin Chronicle .

Bonita, Annette, and Bernette were not found until several days after their deaths, when Bonita's boyfriend asked the maintenance man to open Edward's family apartment, according to the legal document White v. Thaler.

What he saw was pure horror: two bodies on the floor, blood everywhere. When Houston police arrived, they saw it all:

Bonita was clothed but covered in blood from multiple stab wounds to the neck and chest. Annette was lying face down, semi-nude, and partially covered with a blanket, Bernette with a towel shoved in her mouth and wrapped around her neck.

And then, six years passed.

The case went cold until someone finally said something. Tecumseh Manual, while being interviewed about an unrelated murder, told police that White had admitted to killing the Edwards family.

When interviewed by police, White claimed it was mostly the handiwork of another man, Terrence Moore. However, Moore had died four months before the Edwards murder. It appears that White had acted alone.

Beginning in the 80s, DNA became a crucial component of criminal cases, and the Edwards family murder was no exception. DNA testing from recovered blood and semen at the scene implicated White in the murders and the sexual assault of Annette.

White would be convicted of the murders. During the penalty phase of his trial, the jury saw evidence that White had killed two other people as well: a convenience store owner during a robbery and a prostitute.

White's defense attempted to convince the jury that he was only violent when intoxicated and that he would pose no future threat if he received life in prison. The jury didn't buy it and handed down the death penalty.

White was originally scheduled to be executed in 2015, but was granted a reprieve, according to The Guardian .

We will know by tomorrow if White's time has officially run out.
