Stores and shops around Pasadena will be filled with “oohs” and “ahs” on Saturday as shoppers explore the delights of smaller independent businesses in the city on a special shopping day.

The City of Pasadena and Visit Pasadena’s “Authentically Yours, Pasadena” small and independent local businesses campaign kicks off on Small Business Saturday, Nov. 25, with welcome stations at 25 small businesses across the city to inspire visitors and community members to shop small and dine locally.

Today’s focus is on small retailers specializing in unique items with an abundance of handcrafts and specially curated items not usually seen in big box stores.

These small businesses add much to the flavor of Pasadena. Small local businesses are vital to the city’s economy and the city’s culture.

David Klug, the City of Pasadena’s Economic Development Director, highlighted the campaign’s significance.

“The Authentically Yours, Pasadena campaign amplifies the people, places and great finds that give Pasadena its vibrancy and personal flavor. Shop small and dine local to discover the special connections and one-of-a-kind treasures found only when you #ShopPasadena.”

The campaign will begin with welcome stations at 25 small businesses across the city. These stations will be stocked with canvas shopping totes, available on a first-come, first-served basis.

In Old Pasadena, shoppers can encounter Santa’s Helpers throughout the day. These helpers will be distributing Shop Small AMEX gift cards, valued at $25, $50, and $100, to shoppers at various independent retailers.

Visitors can start their day in Old Pasadena at one of the five designated Welcome Stations throughout the district. These stations will offer “Authentically Yours, Pasadena” canvas shopping totes and Old-Pasadena branded enamel pins, while supplies last. The Welcome Stations include:

Bad Bee Boutique (10 a.m. – 7:30 p.m.) at 33 E. Colorado Blvd.

Glee + Co. (10 a.m. – 7 p.m.) at 13 Douglas Alley.

Homage (10 a.m. – 8 p.m.) at 100 N. Fair Oaks Avenue.

Lather (10 a.m. – 8 p.m.) at 40 W. Colorado Blvd.

I Like Pie Bakeshop (10 a.m. – 10 p.m.) at 38 S. Raymond Avenue.

Kristin McGrath, Executive Director of Visit Pasadena, expressed her support for the local businesses, saying, “Pasadena is lucky to have so many wonderful locally-owned shops and eateries that make this city a beloved gathering place for celebrations, special events, and seasonal festivities.”

“During this joyful season, we encourage visitors and our Pasadena community to support local talented makers and curators. Come experience Pasadena’s authentic, local flavor while shopping for gifts and dining out”.

In addition to shopping, there are other events taking place in Pasadena on Small Business Saturday. The Langham Huntington Pasadena is hosting a holiday wreath-making workshop with Stems, a local woman-owned business. The Gamble House is gearing up for a weekend event at their artisan-focused gift store.

The City offers free bus shuttle rides on the Pasadena Transit on Saturday, November 25, to promote local shopping and dining further. For more information, including bus schedules, maps, and real-time bus arrival information, please visit PasadenaTransit.net .
