Sports NFL QB Legend Makes Opinion on Tua Tagovailoa's Retirement Talk Clear

It has now been nearly a month since Tua Tagovailoa suffered a gruesome head injury . Since then, the Miami Dolphins star quarterback has been sidelined as he continues to recover from a horrific concussion during his team's Week 2 loss against the Buffalo Bills.

According to reports, doctors have already diagnosed the 26-year-old as " symptom-free " in terms of what was his fourth concussion in five years. However, after the Dolphins placed Tagovailoa on the injured reserve after Week 2, the earliest he can return to action would be on Week 8 when the Dolphins take on the Arizona Cardinals.

At this point, despite numerous calls for the former Alabama star's retirement, it appears that Tagovailoa has every intention of returning to the field as soon as he's ready - a notion that two-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback Ben Roethlisberger agrees with.

"I'm proud of him," Roethlisberger said of Tagovailoa on Friday's episode of ESPN's "The Pat McAfee Show." "I'm not a doctor. I've had my concussions and things like that. I don't know exactly what's going on in their world exactly, but the one thing that I always talk about and advocate for is the brain. I mean, you can't get a new one."

The Pittsburgh Steelers icon went on to say that he believes Tagovailoa is "doing the right thing by taking his time."

"I think it's smart what he is doing," Roethlisberger continued. "You have to take time. I think he can still play. It's his decision. It's his call. I don't think he needs to retire or be done, but take the right amount of time to let yourself heal. To let the brain heal."

According to Roethlisberger, who himself has had his fair share of scary brain injuries, he completely agrees with Tagovailoa and his camp's decision to take a cautious approach here.

"I'm glad he is taking time to really make sure he is ready and right before he comes back," Roethlisberger stated.

According to reports, Tagovailoa is making good progress on his road to recovery, which means that there is a realistic chance that he is ready for Week 8 against the Cardinals. That is, of course, under the assumption that the Dolphins give him the green light to return amid his delicate situation.
