No Cure Signs to SharpTone Records for Debut EP

B.Lee2 hr ago

I feel like we've been talking a lot lately about Birmingham, Alabama straight-edge hardcore crew No Cure a lot lately, and a lot of it started in September with the fact that two members of the band were stabbed while trying to break up a fight at a show in Nashville. They made the best out of it by putting out t-shirts with one of the band member's stab wounds on it. That might have been the moment that I realized I loved this band, even if they are a straight-edge act and I'm literally smoking weed as I write this. So I'm really excited to report that No Cure have been signed to SharpTone Records for their debut EP I Hope I Die Here, which is due out December 6.

Alongside the EP announcement, the band put out a new single called "Don't Need Your Help," which features a guest appearance form Jesse Clark of the band Wielded Steel and Nick Chance from Beautiful Child of God. In a statement reported on by Metal Injection , No Cure vocalist Blaythe Steuer had this to say about the new song:

"'Don't Need Your Help' is about my touring experience throughout the country, and learning that many people still view the Southeast through a lens of negativity. The meaning behind the song is broad, in the sense that it certainly acknowledges the painful past of the region. But it also makes clear that it doesn't help anyone to continue shitting on the current people here that only want to make it a better place for everyone."

Steuer then added:

"It was critically important to me to have two of my closest friends sing on this song. The first being Nick Chance (Beautiful Child of God), and also Jesse Clark (Wielded Steel). Both of them have shared these kinds of experiences as well. Overall, it is an extremely overstimulating and hard-hitting track, and I can't wait to rip it live."

This promises to be one of the biggest hardcore releases of the year, so you can pre-save or pre-add the upcoming EP here.
