Ohio’s recreational marijuana sales continue growing
COLUMBUS, Ohio ( WCMH ) — On Aug. 6, dual-use dispensaries were given the green light to sell recreational marijuana. Since then, there has been an overall significant increase in sales.
Co-owner of Locals Dispensary Mandy Morton said its employees have been learning how to meet the demand.

"Sales have been really great," Morton said. "We continue to do well month over month. So, in October we did about 50% higher than we did in September."
According to the Ohio Department of Commerce Division of Cannabis Control, Ohioans have spent more than $130 million on recreational marijuana.
The general manager of Amplify Alissa Baker believes her team has been able to adjust to the growth.
"It's more about being adaptable and flexible when you're in the dispensary side, because it depends on the day," Baker said. "Some days we can predict when we're going to have a little bit of an increased volume and other days, it's kind of an unexpected increase in volume."
Even though there has been a rise in sales throughout the state, the Department of Cannabis Control (DCC) has still not updated its rules and guidelines regarding the sale of items such as pre-rolls, which many owners feel could help their sales even more in the future.

"I am hoping that we continue to get these updated regulations so we can find out what we can really do here in this industry and just continue to let people know about the different options that they have," Morton said.
In a statement to NBC4 concerning the sale of pre-rolls, the DCC said, in part, "The DCC is currently in the process of drafting updated testing rules and actively receiving stakeholder feedback on proposals. Pre-rolls have been the subject of stakeholder feedback, and the division is taking that, as well as all feedback it collects, into consideration in drafting updates to these rules."
The DCC has not given a date on when those new rules might go into effect.
