Omaha restaurant The Pizza Pie Guys isn't closing after all

J.Jones45 min ago

The owners of The Pizza Pie Guys, near North 156th and Fort Streets, announced on Sept. 30 that they were closing because they weren't able to fully staff the restaurant and quality was declining.

This week, they announced that they were reversing that decision after an outpouring of support from customers and the community.

"We had several folks reach out to see if they could do anything to help us stay open," they said on a Facebook post. "We had other people reach out to see how they could apply and promise to uphold the standards we need."

They set their reopening for Oct. 24 at 4 p.m. A core of new people and a few solid previous employees will be on hand to give the restaurant a fresh start, they said.

At first, they will limit the menu to pizzas, sandwiches (which they call Danwiches) and calzones while training new workers. They plan to add burgers and fried items in about a week or so.

"Please give us a bit of patience; wait times may be five to 10 minutes longer as the start as we get everyone trained and on the same page," they said.

Hours before the temporary closing were 4 to 9 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturdays and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sundays, but it was unclear whether they would remain the same.
