A man who was killed in a two-vehicle, head-on crash with a BMW in Lancaster was identified Friday.

Cesar Rodriguez-Ortiz, 33, was killed in the collision, according to the California Highway Patrol. Rodriguez-Ortiz, who was a passenger in the Ford that was hit by the BMW, was identified by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner's office.

Paramedics dispatched at 6:18 a.m. Saturday to 55th Street East and East Avenue J rushed three people — including one that was trapped inside a vehicle — to Antelope Valley Medical Center, according to a Los Angeles County Fire Department dispatcher.

A Ford was going eastbound on Avenue J when a westbound BMW went into oncoming lanes of traffic and struck the Ford head on, the sheriff's Lancaster station reported.

The collision also left two other people with moderate injuries, authorities said.

It was unknown if alcohol, drugs or speed were factors in the crash, the sheriff's Lancaster station said.

Anyone with any information regarding the crash was urged to call the sheriff's Lancaster station at 661-948-8466.
