One Of TV’s Best Sci-Fi Shows Returns With A Perfect 100% Critic Score
This was published on 11/7 and republished on 11/8.
Apple TV+ may have a tiny bit of market share in the streaming space, but it has the highest batting average of good shows relative to total shows of any platform, by far. One of those is Silo, returning for its second season on November 15, and early reviews are in. So far, they're perfect.
Silo season 2 is currently reviewing with a perfect 100% on Rotten Tomatoes , albeit with not that many critics in, but it's an indication of what may be to come, it seems. That's higher than season 1's 88%, and makes the show rated at 94% overall. It has a 66% audience score because people are crazy. I'm sorry, but it's just an excellent series.
The show is an adaptation of the Wool novel series, a concept that resembles Fallout's post-apocalyptic vault life. Here's the official synopsis:
"In a ruined and toxic future, a community exists in a giant underground silo that plunges hundreds of stories deep; there, people live in a society full of regulations they believe are meant to protect them."The show's main draw is the enigmatic Rebecca Fergusson, who seems to be everywhere these days, from Mission Impossible to Dune to the upcoming Peaky Blinders movie. But this is effectively her main project. Season 3 has already been greenlit and actually, is currently filming as Apple TV+ tries to cut down on the time between seasons, something they do expertly with some of their other shows like Slow Horses (but famously not with the yawning gap between season 1 and 2 of Severance).
Here's what some of the critics are saying about the new season:
I'm writing this now, a week early, so you have time to binge season 1 of Silo before season 2 is out, which should be enough time. The series is excellent, one of my favorites on TV, and in terms of currently running sci-fi shows? I think you could make the argument it's one of the best. Silo season 2 arrives November 15.
Update (11/8): If you have already watched Silo, that means you are probably subscribed to Apple TV+. And I would venture a guess that perhaps you have not seen all of the services other great sci-fi shows as truly, no one is doing it quite like them. Here's what I would recommend:
For All Mankind - An alternate history where the Russians landed on the moon first which actually accelerates the space race to new heights over the decades. Apple keeps giving it season after season, thankfully.
- A wildly out-there sci-fi series based (loosely) on the famed books, one that looks like the most expensive show on TV but costs a third of what you'd imagine. Season 2 is better than season 3, but they're both excellent.
Dark Matter - A dimension hopping show adapted by the author of the book itself, it's extremely trippy and just got renewed for a second season.
Monarch: Legacy of Monsters - Another show that got renewed for a second season, arguably the best Godzilla content minus Minus One, and a showcase for Best Actress in a Drama winner Anna Sawai before she hit Shogun.
- One of Apple's most high-profile series and one that is sci-fi in the way Black Mirror is sci-fi I suppose. No aliens or apocalypses but a whole lot of weirdness and season 2 will be out...at some point here.
