HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – The Christmas Parade is returning on November 23 to downtown Owensboro.

"Our first parade was in 1936 and this year's theme is a Vintage Christmas," according to board member Jane Head. "But we'll be looking to the future as well as celebrating Christmases past."

Event organizers say the committee teased the announcement of this year's "Grand Marshal" just stating that both the Grand Marshal and Honorary Grand Marshal are both Owensboro favorites and that there will be a special honoree, an Owensboro hometown hero.

"We invite all businesses and nonprofits to be part of the fun this year," said Head. "Entries can be made online at ChristmasParade.net. The small entry fees help us to offset our costs. It's easy to register online and you can even pay the entry fee online too at ChristmasParade.net."

Organizers say nonprofits entries are $50, commercial entries $100 up through early-bird registration that ends on Halloween. There are full sponsorships available as well.

Sponsorship levels include:

  • Gold Level $1,000 whose business is promoted on ChristmasParade.net and social media including the business's business logo and sponsorship banner.

  • Silver Level $500 and Bronze Level $250 both include special marketing and banners.

  • "Eyewitness News. Everywhere you are."
