Packers news and notes: Hang on to the ball, a hot one and a Lombardi bust

(WNFL/LEARFIELD) – The Packers went with a run-heavy game plan last week in the win over the Indianapolis Colts.

With the success they had running the ball, the Packers may or may not go with a similar game plan Sunday against the Tennessee Titans.

However much the Packers run the ball, Matt LaFleur said that one thing Josh Jacobs must do is take better care of the ball.

And with Jacobs getting that many carries, LaFleur needs to be careful not to wear Jacobs out over the course of a long season. So how comfortable is LaFleur with giving RB Emmanuel Wilson more opportunities in the run game.

LaFleur also discussed how has he gotten to the point where he's playing more players every week

Toasty warm: It was a warm day at Lambeau Field last Sunday for the game against the Colts.

Well, it's supposed to be downright hot Sunday for the game in Nashville against the Titans. It's forecast to hit 90.

Packers wide receiver Christian Watson said last weekend's heat will prepare them for this week in Nashville.

Safety Xavier McKinney said that he likes that forecast.

Lombardi bust to be unveiled: The Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame Inc. will celebrate the installation of a new Vince Lombardi bust on Wednesday at Lombardi Middle School as part of Hall of Fame Inc.'s Legacy Series. The Legacy Series program recognizes Packers Hall of Famers in schools, sharing the honorees' legacies with students, visitors and the community.

One of the most successful coaches in league history, Lombardi won five NFL championships, including Super Bowls I and II, in his nine seasons in Green Bay. His name adorns the NFL's ultimate prize: the Vince Lombardi Trophy, awarded each year to the winner of the Super Bowl.

The Legacy Series advances the Packers Hall of Fame Inc.'s mission to serve as an educational resource to students and the community by sharing the stories of Packers Hall of Famers. A bust of Curly Lambeau was installed at Green Bay East High School last year.

Lombardi's bust will be unveiled at Lombardi Middle School in front of the school's auditorium Wednesday, Sept. 25, at 3:45 p.m. in a public ceremony. Two of Lombardi's former players, Dave Robinson and Marv Fleming, will take part in the unveiling, along with Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame Inc. President Don Sipes and Lombardi Middle School Principal Seth Meinel.
