‘Parish’ Canceled After One Season at AMC

AMC has canceled the drama series " Parish " after just one season, Variety has confirmed.

The six-episode series debuted on AMC in March. It was based on the BBC One series "The Driver," with Giancarlo Esposito starring in the American series.

"We're so proud of 'Parish,' and thankful for the creative talent involved and the performances they were able to bring to the screen, starting with the remarkable Giancarlo Esposito, Skeet Ulrich and the entire cast," AMC said in a statement. "We are unfortunately unable to proceed with a second season, but season one will remain available on AMC+ to fans who want to relive this thrill ride of a series and those yet to discover it."

Esposito starred as Gracian "Gray" Parish, described as "a family man and proud owner of a luxury car service in New Orleans. After his son is violently murdered and his business collapses, an encounter with an old friend from his days as a wheelman resurfaces old habits, sending Gray on a high-stakes collision course with a violent criminal syndicate."

Along with Esposito, the cast included Zachary Momoh, Paula Malcomson, Skeet Ulrich, Bonnie Mbuili, Ivan Mbakop, Arica Himmel, Dax Rey, Bradley Whitford, and Amanda Brugel.

"The Driver" was created by Danny Brocklehurst and Jim Poyser. Brocklehurst created "Parish" and executive produced the series. Eduardo Canto and Ryan Maldonado served as showrunners and executive producers. Esposito executive produced in addition to starring. Poyser also executive produced along with Jolyon Symonds and David Morrissey for Scribbler Films, Josh Kesselman, Danny Sherman, Barry Jossen, Tana Jamieson, Theo Travers and Red Production's Nicola Shindler. The series was produced by AMC Studios, in association with A+E Studios and Thruline Entertainment.

This is now the second AMC series starring former "Breaking Bad" and "Better Call Saul" stars to get canceled after just one season. Previously, the network axed the drama "Lucky Hank" starring Bob Odenkirk back in December 2023.
