Part of Columbus road leading to entertainment and restaurants closes for about 1 month

Part of a downtown Columbus street that leads to popular entertainment and restaurants temporarily has closed.

Both lanes of 10th Street are closed along the block from Front Avenue to Bay Avenue to accommodate construction of a new roof on the Columbus State University Riverside Theatre.

The closure, which started Monday, is expected to last about one month, depending on the weather, Uptown Columbus president and CEO Ed Wolverton told the Ledger-Enquirer in an email Wednesday.

"The alternate route to get to Whitewater Express, Banks Food Hall or 11th and Bay (Southern Table restaurant) is to use 11th Street to Bay Avenue," he said.

Another closure that started this week, Wolverton said, is Uptown's Bay Avenue playground, where its renovation and expansion are underway.

"The playground will be closed for about six weeks as the floor area will be expanded, new swing sets added, shade structures installed, and a new floor will be installed," he said. "The area around the playground will also be improved."
