BLOOMINGTON — Patricia Lee Witherell McQuown, 90, of Bloomington, passed away on Wednesday October 30, 2024, at her home.

Pat was born in her paternal grandparents' home on May 21, 1934 in Williamsfield, Ill. to Leon and Beatrice (Wells) Simkins. She married Wayne Witherell on June 7, 1952. He passed away on February 10, 1997. She married Gordon "Shorty" McQuown on June 27, 1998. He passed away on April 1, 2014.

She graduated from Knoxville High School in 1952 and attended ISU.

She and her husband Wayne owned and operated a Convenience Food Mart in Moline, Ill. She was employed at The Baby and Project OZ and retired in 1996.

She is survived by two sons, Mark A Witherell and Scott E. Witherell; one granddaughter, Ashley Plath; one great-grandson, Michael Plath.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and three brothers, Danny Simkins, William Bainbridge, and Jim Bainbridge.

Pat was an avid animal lover and for over 20 years she bred and showed Shetland Sheepdogs. She was one of five people who founded Town & Country Kennel Club and was the only charter member. She was a loving caretaker for her cats, Paisley and Cheetah, her Sheltie, Heidi and Boston Terrier, TJ.

Her funeral service will be held 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at Wesley United Methodist Church. Her visitation will be held from 10 to 11:30 a.m. prior to the funeral.

Her burial will follow at Park Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Tunnel to Towers or St. Jude.
