Patti LuPone has revealed the hiss-terical reason why she was cut from the 1985 film, Cat's Eye. While visiting The Drew Barrymore Show on Friday, the Agatha All Along actress recalled her experience filming an undisclosed role in the horror anthology alongside a young Barrymore only to later be notified by its director, Lewis Teague, that she had been left behind on the cutting room floor. "I was cut out of it! I was cut out of the movie," LuPone said. "I understand I was cut out because I was too funny — that's what I heard."Sign up for Entertainment Weekly 's free daily newsletter to get breaking TV news, exclusive first looks, recaps, reviews, interviews with your favorite stars, and more. Barrymore, who said she was between the ages of 8 and 9 during production, even shed some light on one of the pair's memorable scenes together. "I just remember you were running around in hot rollers, screaming, covered in blood," the host said. "How that didn't end up in the movie... Obviously, that's probably why the movie wasn't a huge success, Patti." LuPone added, "It was the prelude to the film, if I recall, and Lewis Teague, our director, told me, 'You've been cut out.' Why? 'Because you were too funny.'" The Tony award-winner also remembered hanging out with Barrymore's mom, Jaid, while on the film's set. "Say hi to your mom for me," she added, putting her hand on Barrymore's shoulder. "I don't think she'll remember me, but I did spend time with your mom." Barrymore, on the other hand, was certain that her mother would never have forgotten hanging out with a Broadway legend. "You're Patti LuPone," she deadpanned. "I remember every single second I was witnessing you." In fact, LuPone and baby Barrymore even hung out together outside of the Cat's Eye set at different Hollywood events at the time. "There was always parties going on!" Barrymore said. "This was Hollywood in the '80s. It was so different." Written by Stephen King , Cat's Eye told three gruesome horror stories that were all linked together by the inclusion of a young girl (Barrymore) and a stray tabby cat. It includes the tale "Quitters Inc," which follows a man (James Woods) who joins a clinic that promises to help him kick his smoking habit by committing terrible acts to his wife and daughter if he lights a cigarette. In another, the cat, now named General, is adopted by Barrymore and fights to save her from being killed by a murderous troll that lives in the walls of her family's home.
