MOUNT BETHEL, Pa. — Paul M. Poels, 69, of Mount Bethel, Pennsylvania, formerly of Grand Island, passed away Thursday, September 19, 2024, at his residence.

Paul was born September 4, 1955, in Grand Island, Nebraska, the son of the late Lambert and Geraldine Anne (Brusher) Poels.

He was the husband of Martha (Alfaro) Poels. They would have celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary this coming October. Paul was a 1973 graduate of Central Catholic High School in Grand Island and received his Bachelor's in Business from AIU.

Paul formed part of the turbo machinery industry for 44 years, during which he traveled the globe doing what he loved. The last 11 years of his career he spent at Rotating Machinery Services, Inc. Paul was a member of a VFW Post in Nebraska and enjoyed playing golf, skiing, and sailing. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War Era.

Paul was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Belvidere, New Jersey.

In addition to his wife, Martha, Paul is survived by two daughters, Katrien and Paulina Poels; two sisters, Mary Kirkendall and Karen Poels; and five brothers, Joseph, Gerald, Greg, Edward, and Leonard Poels.

He was predeceased by two sisters, Virginia Poels and Theresa Holt Ret. LCD Navy; and two brothers, Francis and Thomas Poels.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, 327 Greenwich St., Belvidere, New Jersey. Family and friends are invited to a visitation from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Gaffney Parsons Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., "Village of Johnsonville" 4 Lillian Lane, Bangor, Pennsylvania. Burial will be in St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery in Upper Mount Bethel Township.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, 327 Greenwich St., Belvidere, NJ 07823.
