Two men have been arrested after an 87-year-old man was forced into a car and attacked before being dumped on a dark road miles from his home.

Police said the incident took place last Sunday between 9pm and 9.30pm in the Lee Street area of Oldham, while the man was walking home.

The pensioner was allegedly dragged into a black car, blindfolded and attacked as he was driven around West Yorkshire, suffering injuries in the process.

Demands were made for his money and personal items, Greater Manchester Police said. He eventually found aid when he knocked on a door at around 10.40pm.

A 39-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of kidnap on Thursday and has been released on police bail pending further investigations.

A 24-year-old man was arrested this morning at an address in Royton on suspicion of kidnap. He remains in custody for questioning.
