Pet Of The Week: Ollie The Husky 'Just Wants To Be Loved'
BABYLON, NY — Ollie is a "gorgeous," four-year-old cream-colored Husky who resides at the Babylon Animal Shelter and he's Patch's Pet of the Week.
"Ollie will steal your heart if you let him and is an amazing dog for the right home," said shelter volunteer Lyndsey Grosjean.
According to longtime shelter volunteer Christine Franke, Ollie was found as a stray, but staff thinks his family called to check on him but never came to pick him up.
"He's super sweet and smart as a whip," she said. "He loves people, affection, the pool, and fetch."
But Ollie wants to be his family's main squeeze—he doesn't love dogs. But he does love swimming in pools, playing ball, and belly rubs.
"My Olliepop is a fluff ball who just wants to be loved. He's the life of the shelter, that's for sure," said shelter volunteer Rachel Weisner.
Franke added that if anyone's looking for an "affectionate belly-up, smart-loving fool who will offer endless hours of entertainment," then Ollie is the dog for them.
Normal adoption hours at the shelter are Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
The shelter needs volunteers, especially experienced large dog handlers and staff is happy to train interested dog lovers.
There's also an abundance of bunnies, kittens, and cats to spend time with too, Franke said. Anyone interested in volunteering may contact the shelter by calling the number above or emailing
