Pets of the week: Journey likes to go for walks. Rocky Road is sweet and calm

JACKSON, MI - The Jackson County Animal Shelter, 3770 Spring Arbor Road, has many pets available for adoption.

Here are two of them.

Journey is a female 8-year-old hound mix that is looking for her forever home.

She is friendly, house trained and happy to greet all guests. Journey likes to go outside for walks. She is youthful in her demeanor as she likes to play and be active.

Hounds can be very loyal, intelligent and independent. They make great family pets.

Rocky Road is a 7-year-old male shorthair cat who was surrendered by his owner.

He has unique markings, black ears and a black tail but is otherwise all white.

Rocky gets along well with the other cats where he is housed. This sweet, calm guy is fond of naps and snacks. Rocky loves attention and to be petted.

Dog adoptions require an application, online. A meet-and-greet with a dog also is mandatory. A cat room walk-through is available to test reaction. The dog adoption fee is $150 for medium and large dogs and $250 for puppies and small dogs, which includes vaccinations, microchip and sterilization.

Cat adoption fees are $60 for one cat, $80 for two, which includes applicable tests, vaccinations and spay/neutering.

The shelter's current hours are 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
