PIAA girls soccer roundup: Cocalico, Lancaster Mennonite win openers; Manheim Central eliminated

Cocalico 1, Pottsville 0
Livia Smith scored the game's only goal to help lift Cocalico to a 1-0 win over Pottsville in the first round of the PIAA Class 3A tournament on Tuesday at Pottsville.
Kira Lehman set up the goal thanks to a win on a 50/50 ball and a through ball that split a pair of defenders, which allowed for a breakaway chance that Smith buried into the far-side netting.
District Three runner-up Cocalico outshot District 11 champ Pottsville 10-3.
Eagles goalie Molly Barrett turned away three shots in the shutout, while her counterpart, Pottsville's Aubrey Scanlan, made nine saves.
Cocalico (16-6-2) will face District One runner-up Strath Haven, which defeated District 12 champion Archbishop Ryan 3-1 on Tuesday, a quarterfinal game Saturday, site and time to be announced.
West Chester Rustin 3, Manheim Central 0
The District Three third-place Barons fell to the District One champion Golden Knights in an opening-round PIAA Class 3A game Tuesday at West Chester.
Manheim Central finishes the season at 13-8.
CLASS 1A
Lancaster Mennonite 2, South Williamsport 1
A first half filled with offense was followed by a stout defensive effort in the second as Lancaster Mennonite defeated South Williamsport 2-1 in the first round of PIAA Class 1A Tournament on Tuesday at Balls Mills.
Avery King and Leah Friesen provided the scoring for District Three runner-up Lancaster Mennonite (11-6-1) after the Pioneers trailed early in the game.
Kloey Persun scored for District Four champ South Williamsport in the opening six minutes, but King (17th minute) and Friesen (23rd minute) answered for the Blazers.
Lancaster Mennonite will face District 11 champion Moravian Academy, a 2-1 winner over District Two champion Holy Redeemer, in the quarterfinal round on Saturday, site and time to be announced.
