Pittsburgh Steelers sign former Patriots tackle after Fautanu injury

T.Williams2 hr ago
The Pittsburgh Steelers are signing former New England Patriots offensive tackle Calvin Anderson after a tryout on Monday. Anderson last played for the Patriots this training camp. He suffered an injury at some point in training camp after running with the first team for some of the Patriots' training camp.

He has 14 NFL starts and started two games in 2023. However, he was benched due to poor play, and shortly after that, Anderson suffered a 'heart contusion' in practice that ended his season.

In the 2023 offseason, while on a trip to Nigeria, Anderson dealt with a about of Malaria and almost died. That forced him to miss much of the offseason program, and when he started Week 1, he was behind others on the team.

Anderson has played and started games at both right and left tackle. An undrafted free agent out of Texas in the 2019 NFL Draft, Anderson spent most of his time after entering the NFL with the Denver Broncos.

Now, he will be the top backup for the Steelers behind Broderick Jones and Dan Moore Jr. Dylan Cook, who would be the fourth offensive tackle, is still not ready to return from his injury.
