Pittsburgh Steelers WR suffers eye injury
R.Taylor10 days ago
PITTSBURGH - Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Van Jefferson is dealing with an eye injury and is questionable to return to Sunday's contest against the Los Angeles Chargers. With rookie wide receiver Roman Wilson inactive for the game, Cordarrelle Patterson has picked up some work at wide receiver. Patterson has two receptions for nine yards. Scotty Miller has picked up extra work in Jefferson's place, too. He snagged a 22-yard reception for a third-down conversion on the Steelers' touchdown drive. BETTING: Jefferson has struggled in his first two games. He did draw a critical defensive pass interference penalty against the Denver Broncos but had just two receptions through the first two games. However, the Steelers are now thin at wide receiver, with Patterson, who is a running back, essentially playing wide receiver. Wilson was inactive after missing seven weeks with a high ankle sprain. It seems the Steelers want him to spend more time learning the playbook and catching up rather than playing him so early. Jefferson was signed by the Steelers in the offseason. He played with Arthur Smith in 2023 after being traded from the Los Angeles Rams to the Atlanta Falcons.
