Police: Alpena man used hidden camera in bathroom to take photos of minor
An Alpena man is facing charges after police say he captured images of a young girl using a hidden camera in a home bathroom.
Alpena County area troopers were called Wednesday after a woman found nude images of the girl on the phone of a 41-year-old Alpena man, according to Michigan State Police. The agency posted about the incident on X, formerly known as Twitter, on Friday morning.
The nude images are believed to have been taken using a hidden borescope in the bathroom of a home, police said.
A borescope is a sort of inspection camera, used to inspect inaccessible areas.
The girl was a minor under 18, said Michigan State Police Specialist Lt. Derrick Carroll. He declined to specify further.
The man was interviewed and arrested, police said.
He was arraigned Thursday in the 88th District Court on two counts of capturing or distributing an image of an unclothed person and one count of using a computer to commit a crime.
He was given a $25,000 cash or surety bond.
