WAMEGO ( KSNT ) – Police in Wamego were called to respond to a situation at a local high school Friday morning.

Paul Schliffke with the Wamego Police Department (WPD) told 27 News in a written statement that officers were called to Wamego High School at 801 Lincoln Avenue for a "minor disturbance." Police arriving at the school learned staff on location had de-escalated the situation. The school entered a lockdown that lasted from 9:14 a.m. to 9:32 a.m.

Two students were escorted away from the high school following this incident. Schliffke confirms an investigation is currently underway for this situation.

The WPD was also called to investigate allegations of violence at a USD 320 school earlier in the week which eventually led to the seizure of a magazine for a firearm from a student. This is one of multiple situations police in northeast Kansas have responded to recently involving threats at local schools.
