A Pompano Beach man has been accused of fatally striking the mother of his child with a truck following a dispute.

The Broward County Sheriff's Office (BSO) reported that on Saturday at around 9:33 p.m., deputies and Pompano Beach Fire Rescue (PBFR) responded to a hit-and-run near 130 Southwest Eight Street in Pompano Beach.

Once on scene, deputies stated finding two victims, a male and a female. The female was pronounced dead on scene, while the man was transported to Broward Health North with non-life-threatening injuries.

A preliminary investigation by BSO homicide detectives revealed that Edwin Amaya, 32, had gotten into a verbal argument with the mother of his child regarding their shared child.

Amaya reportedly got into his Ford F-250 truck and intentionally put the vehicle into drive to strike his child's mother.
