PORTLAND, Ore. ( KOIN ) — A trained weather spotter reported a tornado yesterday evening around 9:24 pm in Rockaway Beach, Oregon.

According to the National Weather Service, the KRTX weather radar, located in Portland, showed a "fairly strong velocity couplet" in the area at the same time the tornado was reported.

The tornado possibly formed within a strong thunder cell that moved through the coastline Monday evening.

Winter Weather Advisory issued for Oregon Cascades

Rockaway Beach residents took to a community Facebook group to show photos and videos of the damage, including damage to a fence and a small tree.

There were also reports of roof shingles, a window and dirt and debris being tossed around the National Weather Service said.

For now, the tornado report remains unconfirmed. The National Weather Service will need to perform a damage survey of the area before it is considered a confirmed tornado with an EF rating.
