Presidential election protesters in Portland say ‘Workers deserve more’
PORTLAND, Ore. ( KOIN ) — Several protests gathered in Portland Saturday after the presidential election, with one group assembling outside Revolution Hall.
The Portland chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), told KOIN 6 News they were there to mobilize their community, calling for the demonstration before they even knew the results of the election.
Roughly 60 people came out to this protest called "Workers Deserve More," as part of their 2024 initiative, which includes fighting for reproductive rights, healthcare and pensions.

Overall, they said they are feeling their voices aren't being heard by either the Democratic or Republican parties.
"I think our main message is that the working class of this country are the ones with the real power to enact change and to take power back from the rich," said Olivia Katbi with the Portland chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America. "Because that is what we are seeing with the Democrat party and the Republican party. These are two sides of the same coin and workers deserve more."
Earlier Saturday, the group Portland for Palestine held another peaceful protest at Sunnyside School Park, demanding the U.S. puts and end to funding Israel.
Portland police were at both events, but officials declined to comment at this time on the various protests since Tuesday's election.
