Railroad military locomotives to be used in passenger service for the first time

Oct. 15—LEWISBURG — The North Shore Railroad Company and Affiliates (NSHR) will hold passenger excursions for the first time with the newly dedicated LVRR 9052 (Veterans Unit) and LVRR 9050 (Memorial Unit) for the Inaugural Veterans Benefit Voyage.

Train rides will depart from Hufnagle Park in Lewisburg on Nov. 9. Departure times will be at 9 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. The railroad said 100 percent of the ticket sales will go directly to two veteran-support organizations: Expedition Orange and Lycoming County Hometown Heroes.

The railroad will also hold a basket raffle at this event (100 percent of the ticket sales will also go to these two nonprofits). Donations are being accepted now through Nov. 1. Business owners who would like to donate to this cause/fundraiser, can visit www.nshr.com/raffle .
