Record warmth, high fire danger in Erie

Gusty southerly winds are already keeping temps. up tonight and will likely lead to record warmth on Election Day. 80 degrees is certainly possible for Erie again, similar to last week, which would break the record of 78 set 2 years ago.

Of course, the downside is that the warm temperatures will dry out the atmosphere even further and combined with gusty winds, will pose a high fire risk for much of the area (yellow).

The PA – DCNR – Bureau of Forestry has put Warren, McKean and Elk counties into a Moderate risk as well (Blue).

Regardless, enjoy the balmy breezes and save outdoor burning for another day.
