Registration open for 'Becoming an Outdoors Woman' fall workshop

BIG BAY, Mich. (WLUC) - The Michigan DNR is offering women another opportunity to improve their outdoor skills.

Registration is now open for the 'Becoming an Outdoors Woman' fall weekend workshop. The workshop will go from October 11 to October 13.

It will offer classes surrounding hunting, fishing and camping for women 18 years old and older.

Program coordinator Michelle Douglas says this workshop has been in Michigan for more than 20 years.

She explains this allows women to hone their outdoor recreation skills in a non-competitive environment.

"It's a very safe space, it's a very welcoming space," Douglas said. "All of our instructors are volunteers so they want to be there and they're very passionate."

The workshop costs $300. There are about 80 open spots available.
