Republican US Rep District 1 candidate Laurie Buckhout suggest recount
RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — Ahead of the results of the 2024 general election, one candidate is calling for a recount of the votes in her race.
Laurie Buckhout, the Republican candidate looking to take U.S. Representative Don Davis's seat, is suggesting that the Board of Elections recount the votes in the very tight District 1 race.
This race is one of the few toss-up congressional races across the Southeast and one that plays a major part in determining the balance of power in the U.S. House of Representatives.

In a statement below, Buckhout says her team is reviewing the results of the race, specifically the canvas process where votes that come in after absentee, mail-in and in-person ballots are entered, which between 10-20 days after election night Tuesday. Buckhout says:
In one of the most competitive congressional races in the country, District 1 consists of 21 counties. It contains towns and cities such as Greenville, Rocky Mount, Wilson, Goldsboro, Henderson and Roanoke Rapids.
