Rockford area businesswomen gather to support, inspire each other
ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — local women gathered to network and help support each other in the world of business on Thursday.
The greater Rockford Chamber of Commerce held its annual Pow-Her Conference at the Embassy Suites to celebrate their contribution to leadership in the community.
Over 200 women attended workshops and had the chance to network at the luncheon.
Four local leaders were honored for their work.
This was the first year of the event for the chamber's new CEO. She said it is important for women to get together and inspire each other.
"When I think back on my own career, and all the women who were inspirational to me, whether it be someone I personally knew or someone in the greater business community, I think it's so important that we all get to know each other and look for those role models who can help us and make improvements in our businesses and our communities," said CEO Angela Kay Larson.
Workshop topics included work-life balance, career advancement and how to better engage with the community.
