"All sanitary sewer line segments are on regular cleaning cycles, ranging from three months to 10 years," the release said. "However, if a blockage is detected before the scheduled cleaning, MAWSS will take immediate action to prevent it from worsening. This proactive approach ensures the smooth functioning of the system and minimizes disruptions."

In the meantime, county health officials are advising residents to take precautions when coming into contact with any standing water that resulted from the overflow.
