(FOX40.COM) — In the November general election, Sacramento voters got to make their choice for president and Congress, as well as several statewide races and measures.

Closer to home, voters made their choice for mayor, who will take over after Darrell Steinberg concludes his second term. Residents of District 2 voted for who will represent them on the city council after former Councilman Sean Loloee resigned following a federal investigation into his grocery business.

In the mayoral race, Flojaune Cofer and Kevin McCarty made it to the general election after a primary that seemingly had a different candidate in the lead with every updated vote count.

Cofer is an epidemiologist who has not held public office and McCarty most recently served as a state Assembly Member.

In the District 2 election, Roger Dickinson and Stephen Walton are seeking a full term.

The district is currently represented by Shoun Thao, who was appointed by the council in early 2024 after the resignation of Loloee, and who will serve until December, when the victor in the race will be sworn in, along with the city's new mayor.
