Salem County under a coastal flood advisory until Friday afternoon

The National Weather Service issued a coastal flood advisory at 10:09 a.m. on Friday valid for Friday between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. for Salem County.

"Up to one foot of inundation above ground level expected in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways," comments the weather service. "Additional tidal flooding is possible with high tide cycles on Saturday and Sunday."

"With minor flooding, widespread roadway flooding occurs in coastal and bayside communities and along inland tidal waterways," explains the weather service. "If travel is required, allow extra time as some roads may be closed. Do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth. Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone property."
