LIMA TOWNSHIP, MI — Drivers should expect delays on Interstate 94 in Washtenaw County on Tuesday after a salt truck flipped onto its side and spilled salt all over the roadway, according to Michigan State Police.

The crash happened at 10 a.m. on westbound Interstate 94 near Baker Road in Lima Township, according to police.

The driver of the salt truck, a 63-year-old man, suffered a medical emergency and drove off the road, according to police.

One of the two trailers he was pulling flipped over and spilled its contents on the grass along the freeway, according to police.

The driver was taken to University of Michigan Hospital, where his condition was unknown, according to police.

No other drivers were involved in the crash, according to police.

Officials closed the right lane on the freeway while crews clean up the crash, according to police.
