New Goodwill to open in St. Augustine next summer

Shoppers in St. Augustine will soon have a new place to shop at.

Goodwill just broke ground on a 22,000-square-foot facility in Epic Village. That's off of SR 207 in St. Augustine.

The facility will have a retail store, donation center with drive through drop off, and a Good Careers center.

Construction is currently underway with an opening date scheduled for Summer 2025.

According to a news release, the current Goodwill of North Florida location at 2005 U.S. 1 will remain open throughout construction.

The new store will employ more than 30 people.

An eagled-eyed husband and wife were sailing in Hawaii when they spotted mysterious objects in the distance. Camila and Ryan Sullivan found five scuba divers drifting at sea. They told their rescuers that they were on a diving excursion. When they surfaced, they realized that they drifted away and their dive boat was nowhere to be found. A judge recused himself Tuesday from presiding over Arizona's fake electors case after an email surfaced in which he told fellow judges to speak out against attacks on Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris' campaign for the presidency. In the Aug. 29 email, Maricopa County Judge Bruce Cohen lamented that he didn't speak out when Harris was called a "DEI hire," believes that white men must speak out against unfair treatment of women, and raised a historical lesson from the Holocaust about the need to speak up when people are attacked. Cohen didn't specify who made the comment regarding Harris.

An arrest report gives more details about what occurred before a man was shot to death Wednesday in the 3200 block of West Edgewood Avenue. Investigators observed surveillance video that showed the victim driving an orange Chevrolet Camaro with orange rims at the intersection of Edgewood Avenue and New Kings Road, according to the JSO arrest report for Lavertis Reed, 20, who was charged with murder in the shooting. As the victim's vehicle crossed the intersection, a white vehicle with dark rims was observed on the surveillance video driving south at a high rate of speed on New Kings Road, the arrest report states.
