Santa Anna woman killed in single-vehicle crash

CALLAHAN COUNTY, Texas ( KTAB/KRBC ) – A single-vehicle crash claimed the life of one person and injured another.

On August 28, at about 5:36 a.m., a crash occurred on US Highway 283, 13.1 miles south of Baird.

A Ford Fusion was traveling south on US 283 when the driver struck a deer on the road, causing the vehicle to veer off and hit a tree. Both the driver and child passenger were taken to a nearby hospital.

The driver, 37-year-old Brandi Deann Ross of Santa Anna, Texas, was pronounced dead. The passenger, a 7-year-old child, was transported to a hospital with minor injuries.

According to the Texas DPS report, neither occupant wore a seatbelt during the crash.
