EUCLID, Ohio (WOIO)— A series of incidents at and around football games over the past two seasons is forcing law enforcement to make changes ahead of a Friday night football game.

Euclid police say security is getting "beefed up," with more officers at the game between Strongsville and Euclid Friday night.

Strongsville police adding that two officers will accompany the buses headed to Euclid to offer some additional security.

This comes after a shooting occurred right down the road from the high school after a football game at the end of August, killing a 17-year-old and injuring several other teens.

Thursday, Euclid police posted on the department's Facebook page, thanking a Euclid student for alerting police to someone with a gun attending the Euclid football game at Shaker Heights.

"Most of my classmates are not going, and I think some people are concerned about safety," said Ally, a Strongsville student. "I know some parents aren't letting my friends go because of it."

Last year, a Euclid home game was moved after student behavior concerned staff.

The next week, an opponent forfeited the game over playing.

The week after, Euclid played in front of a family-only crowd .

Strongsville City Schools and Euclid City Schools Administration have worked collaboratively to plan for tonight's varsity football game. Both schools look forward to creating a safe environment where our student-athletes and band members have the opportunity to enjoy all that "Friday Night Lights" in Northeast Ohio in the fall has to offer.
