See It! Rare comet zips past Fire Island on Long Island
FIRE ISLAND N.Y. (PIX11) – A rare comet is zipping past Earth right now, and some lucky New Yorkers managed to capture it on camera.
Someone on Fire Island recorded the comet as it passed by Robert Moses State Park.
Things To Do Around NYC
The comet known as Tsuchinshan-Atlas will be visible to the naked eye through the end of October as it passes near Earth.
It won't return for another 80,000 years. Experts suggest going outside after sunset on a clear night and looking to the west to see it passing by.
