Sentencing in ‘Justice for Duke’ case delayed
CLEARFIELD, Pa. (WTAJ) — Animal rights advocates gathered at the courthouse in Clearfield Friday, calling for, "Justice for Duke" — the English mastiff that was found shot and barely alive alongside a road.
His former owner, Ricky Daisher, pleaded guilty to cruelty to animals last month and was set to be sentenced Friday, but it was postponed to allow the district attorney to talk with members of the group "Animals Matter of Clearfield County" about the case. The judge also wants to review the police investigation and medical records.
"We just want to see justice for this dog as this dog suffered for 21 hours and then weeks after," said Heather Hoover, a board member of Animals Matter of Clearfield County. "He deserves justice."
