The National Weather Service at Binghamton, N.Y.,’s website was reporting Monday night that a winter weather advisory was still in effect for the area from 1 this morning until 6 a.m. Wednesday in anticipation of a storm expected to bring snow, sleet, freezing rain and eventually plain rain.
Accumulations of 1 to 3 inches of snow are possible along with a trace to a 10th of an inch of ice, the National Weather Service site said.
Snow was expected to come over the area after midnight and by midmorning today turn into a wintry mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain. By early afternoon, temperatures could warm above freezing, the weather service site said. Frozen precipitation should them change over to a mix of light rain and drizzle.
Temperatures are expected to rise from the teens to the low to mid 30s, the National Weather Service said, before falling below freezing again tonight.
