Special prosecutor evaluating winding down Trump investigations

NEW YORK (PIX11) – He hasn't been sworn in yet. Still, it looks as if some of President-elect Donald Trump's legal woes could soon be swept away, the associated press reporting a source tells them that special prosecutor Jack Smith is evaluating 'winding down' two federal investigations.
The Department of Justice accuses Mr. Trump of conspiring to overturn President Biden's 2020 election defeat.

A separate federal case against Trump involves classified documents taken from the White House and sent to his Florida residence after he left office.
The special prosecutor is reportedly looking to wind down both cases because long-standing Department of Justice protocols prohibit prosecuting sitting presidents. If this happens, it would be a big win for Mr. Trump.
Trump already faces a conviction in New York in the Stormy Daniels falsifying business records case. There is no word on whether sentencing will be delayed until he leaves office, but recent Supreme Court rulings could mean just that.
