(KRON) — The San Francisco Police Department (SFPD) has arrested a suspect tied to two separate violent attacks on senior citizens, including a 90-year-old man and a disabled man.

Investigators said in the first incident on Oct. 15 at 10:19 a.m., the suspect "charged and attacked" the 90-year-old victim on a Muni bus at Bryant and 3rd Streets. The victim was struck several times in the head and kicked after he fell to the ground, said police. The suspect fled the scene before police and paramedics arrived. The victim was taken to a local hospital where he is suffering from life-threatening injuries, said SFPD.

In the second incident, which occurred on Oct. 16 at 12:30 p.m., multiple witnesses saw a suspect shove down a 68-year-old man carrying a walker at Cyril Magnin and Eddy Street at Hallidae Plaza. Police said the man hit his head on the ground and was taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries. The suspect, identified as 27-year-old Jahad Antoine, was arrested by officers, and other patrol units in the area, after a foot chase.

Police said Antoine was booked into San Francisco County Jail and faces several charges, including resisting or delaying arrest, elder abuse, assault likely to produce great bodily injury, assault with a deadly weapon likely to produce great bodily injury, battery against an operator, driver or passenger on a bus, inflicting great bodily injury on a person who is 70 years of age or older and numerous warrant violations.

"These callous attacks on our most vulnerable community members are unconscionable," Chief Bill Scott of SFPD said. "Thankfully our officers were able to identify the suspect and make a swift arrest. These kinds of attacks will never be tolerated in San Francisco, and we will do everything within our power to bring the victims justice in these cases."

Officials said this case remains an active investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 415-575-4444 or text TIP411, starting the message with 'SFPD.'
