R.Davis51 min ago

TAMPA, Fla. – The City of Tampa is preparing for potential flooding due to heavy rainfall expected from Tropical Storm Milton. Self-service sandbag sites will be open Sunday, October 6th, from 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM at two locations:

  • Himes Ave Complex:
  • Al Barnes Park:
  • Residents can fill a maximum of 10 sandbags per household. The city is also providing free tarps at these locations while supplies last.

    Tips for Effective Sandbag Use:

For optimal flood protection, use sandbags in conjunction with a plastic liner placed behind and beneath them. This helps prevent water from seeping through.

    Stay Informed and Report Flooding:

Drivers are urged to avoid flooded roadways and report any flooded streets or debris to the Tampa Police Non-Emergency Line at (813) 231-6130. This allows city crews to respond quickly and address hazards.

Real-time flooding information can be monitored online at tampa.gov/floodmap.
