TeamMates Mentoring celebrated its 2023-2024 scholarship recipients and graduates at its annual Scholarship & College Graduation Celebration on Saturday, Sept. 14.

The celebration kicked off with a pregame tailgate at Gov. Jim Pillen's residence with approximately 600 people in attendance including 11 college graduates, 37 high school scholarship recipients, nine TeamMates+ college scholarship recipients and 18 program coordinators, as well as 130 donors and business partners.

Featured speakers at the event included Pillen, Dr. Tom Osborne, TeamMates CEO DeMoine Adams, Miss Nebraska 2024 Raechel Warren, and Sandra Reding of the Aksarben Foundation.

"It was an incredible day for our mentees, mentors, program coordinators, parents, guardians and donors to celebrate the accomplishments of the graduates and scholarship recipients," said TeamMates CEO DeMoine Adams. "Thank you to Governor Pillen, his wife Suzanne and their staff for hosting TeamMates at the tailgate, as well as the Aksarben Foundation for their partnership to award scholarships to our mentees."

TeamMates Mentoring has over 20 donors and 31 college partners across Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas, South Dakota and Wyoming that support mentees with scholarships to pursue some form of post-secondary education. This past year, $6.7 million was awarded in scholarship funding to 203 mentees.

The celebration concluded with the graduates and scholarship recipients being honored at halftime of the Nebraska football game at Memorial Stadium, which also featured a congratulatory video by TeamMates co-founders Nancy and Tom Osborne.

The Osbornes founded TeamMates Mentoring as a nonprofit in 1991, and the organization inspires students to reach their full potential through mentoring.
