Teens, 17 and 15, arrested, police find AR-15 pistol
ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Two teen boys, 15 and 17 years old, were arrested after an attempted traffic stop by Rockford law enforcement on Friday, and a loaded AR-15 pistol was found in the investigation.
According to Rockford Police, officers attempted to stop a vehicle at Main Street and Belmont Avenue around 8:40 p.m. on November 8th.
The 15-year-old driver got out and ran, and was later apprehended and was found to be in possession of the pistol.
The other occupant of the car was also arrested.
An AR-15 pistol resembles an AR-15 rifle, but has a shorter barrel.
The 15-year-old was charged with resisting arrest, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, and no valid firearm owner's identification.
The 17-year-old was charged with obstructing identification, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, no valid firearm owner's identification, and outstanding warrants.
Both were booked into the Juvenile Detention Center.
